Asco Foundation donates 500 Disaster Relief Kits to NDMO

Asco Foundation, the charitable arm of Asco Motors Fiji donated 500 Disaster Relief Kits to the Fiji National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) this afternoon.

Asco Foundation Trustees says the Foundation is honored to support the NDMO with the donation of these disaster relief kits which included water purification tablets, torches, dry biscuits, tarpaulin and a transistor radio to name a few. With the tropical cyclone season between November to April, the timely donation will see 500 families assisted should a disaster occur. People’s health and safety are paramount and at the forefront of what the Asco Foundation does.

Asco Motors Acting CEO Ronald Kumar states, “The Asco Motors Foundation is always ready to support the larger community and it is important that we are always prepared to mitigate the effects of natural disasters.”

In her remarks during the handover, NDMO Director Ms. Vasiti Soko acknowledged the generous and timely donation by the Asco Foundation. “Seeing the increased frequency and intensity of disasters globally such as the Earthquake in Turkey and Syria and Cyclone and Flash floods in New Zealand- serves as a great reminder for us to be prepared at all times”.

“On behalf of Government, we would like to thank the Asco Foundation team for their kind thoughts in extending this donation to our Office to assist ordinary citizens during disasters. We would like to assure the Asco team that their donations would go a long way in supporting families in the immediate aftermath of future disasters,” Ms. Soko said.

The Asco Foundation is a charitable organization through which Asco Motors Fiji supports worthy causes and has been operating for over several years and has supported a variety of initiatives to enhance education, safety, assist at-risk youth and support the underprivileged and contribute towards the greener initiative.
