Depiction of PCS function.

Pre-Collision Safety System (PCS)

Using a combination of front-mounted radar and camera, the vehicle scans the road ahead for collision hazards, such as other vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists. If the vehicle is driven too close to a hazard, it will warn the driver. Depending on driving conditions, it can also assist in applying brake pressure, or may brake autonomously to avert an accident.

Depiction of DRCC function.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)

This intelligent enhancement to standard cruise control uses sensors to smoothly regulate speed, keeping a safe distance behind other vehicles.

Depiction of AHB function.

Automatic High Beam (AHB)

In low-light conditions, this system uses the front-facing camera to detect the lights of oncoming vehicles and the tail lights of traffic ahead. When the road is clear, high beams are engaged to provide a clearer view. The high beams are dipped when a vehicle is near to prevent glare for other drivers.

Depiction of LDA function.

Lane Departure Alert (LDA)

Using the vehicle’s sensors to detect lane markings, the system will warn the driver when the vehicle starts to deviate from the centre of the lane.

Depiction of LTA function.

Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)

When using DRCC in highway driving conditions, the system detects road markings, making assistive steering adjustments to keep the vehicle centred in its lane, even when driving along a curved road.

Depiction of EDSS function.

Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS) + Driver Monitor

When DRCC is activated, a sensor monitors driver input and attention. If no input is detected, the system will attempt to alert the driver with audible warnings. If the driver does not respond, the EDSS function will bring the vehicle to a gradual stop, turn on the hazard lights, and unlock the doors for access by emergency services.

Important notes

  1. Not all features on this page may be available on your vehicle. Features and images shown on this page are for illustrative purposes only and may differ from the actual model, variant, or specification.
  2. Toyota Safety Sense’s effectiveness is dependent on many factors including road, weather, and vehicle conditions. Drivers are responsible for their own safe driving. Always pay attention to your surroundings and drive safely. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.
  3. The Pre-Collision System is designed to help avoid or reduce the crash speed and damage in certain frontal collisions only. It is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness is dependent on many factors, including road, weather, night driving, and vehicle conditions.
  4. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is designed to assist the driver and is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness is dependent on many factors, including road, weather, and vehicle conditions.
  5. Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) is designed to read visible lane markers and detect other vehicles under certain conditions. It is only operational when DRCC is engaged and where road markings are clear.
  6. Lane Departure Alert (LDA) is designed to read visible lane markers under certain conditions, and provide visual and audible alerts when lane departure is detected. It is not a collision-avoidance system or a substitute for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness is dependent on many factors, including road, weather, and vehicle conditions.
  7. Automatic High Beams operate at speeds above a determined threshold. Factors such as a dirty windscreen, weather, lightning, and terrain limit effectiveness, requiring the driver to manually operate the high beams.
Feature availability may vary by vehicle. Refer to Owner’s Manual for feature limitations and detailed operating condition information.
